8.45am (depending on location)
Meet and greet with your English-speaking guide / driver in the hotel lobby, from where you will be taken for a 45-minute drive by luxurious private vehicle to the picturesque village Zuidschermer, where you are going to have a private workshop cheese making at the traditional, non-touristy Dutch dairy farm Zeilzicht. This workshop, where you will make your own cheese from scratch, will take about 2 hours. Of course, you can take your made cheese with you.
Besides the workshop, you will also be taken for a tour of the farm. During this tour, you will see a milking-robot in action, a Dutch invention by Lely Astronaut. A surprising visit where you will meet local people!
We continue with a 45-minute drive to historic Enkhuizen, where you will be taken for a guided tour of the outdoor Zuiderzeemuseum. Upon arrival in Enkhuizen, there is leisure time for lunch in the historical city center.
The Zuiderzeemuseum is not a well-known museum among tourists but personally we find this is a very interesting sight where you can learn a lot about the Dutch history, and it’s mostly outdoors.
The open-air section covers 15 acres and accommodates authentic buildings from the former Zuiderzee region, such as a church, a fish-curing shed, a mill, a cheese warehouse, shops and dwelling houses from the surrounding fishing villages. Staff and volunteers demonstrate historical crafts from everyday life at the beginning of the previous century. A number of presentations offer a modern interpretation of traditional crafts, materials and themes.Every month of the year will feature a different craft, and everyone can become acquainted with the manual skills of the past which is presented in a light-hearted manner. In short, all kinds of typical Dutch sights. www.zuiderzeemuseum.nl
From here, you will be taken back to your hotel in Amsterdam, where you have the remainder of the day for your own leisure. You will arrive back around 4.45pm.
