Maastricht’s Country Estate
Could anything be more attractive? The irresistibly attractive Geul valley, the marvellous Ingendael wild life reserve, our own extensive parks, stylish baroque gardens, a farmhouse herb garden, a standard-tree fruit arboretum, and a rose garden – features that as such have given cause to the fame of Château St. Gerlach as the famous country estate of Maastricht. It’s a unique place to escape from the pressures of everyday life. Pamper yourself in true five-star style in these picturesque surroundings, where historic buildings nestle in magnificent countryside.
The St. Gerlach country estate has 97 splendid rooms, suites and hotel apartments. The distinctive hotel rooms and suites are housed in the former homestead and all offer maximum comfort. The comprehensive breakfast facilities available in our garden pavilion enable visitors to admire the authentic herb garden and the pastoral landscape, where Koniks horses and Galloway cattle graze in peace. The hotel also offers a convivial lounge, a cheerful bar and a multifunctional conference room.
Restaurant Château St. Gerlach, three reception rooms in the living quarters of the aristocratic family that used to live in the Château now accommodate a top-quality à la carte restaurant. Each room is furnished in its own distinctive manner, and in full harmony with the original painted walls and ceilings. The comprehensive menu is oriented towards French cuisine – and our renowned wines form perfect complement to the culinary art of our chef Otto Nijenhuis and his kitchen staff. On sunny days the splendid patio is particularly appealing to diners.
Baron de Selys de Fanson was St. Gerlach’s last resident; his kitchen, dining room and reception room have now been transformed into the cosy Bistrot de Liège. The original rugged paving stones, the antique stove and an original Liège provisions cupboard in the open kitchen are responsible for much of the Bistrot’s unique ambience. Guests visiting these informal surroundings will be treated to a menu de la semaine, small dishes from the region, or just a cup of coffee.
Spa & Wellness St. Gerlach is situated in the arched cellars of the former noble stylus building which is part of the Château St. Gerlach. The cellars are transformed into magical and intimate treatment rooms. Together with the roman styled swimming pool, sauna and Turkish bath this creates a lustrous entourage to pamper you from head to toe.
The various classically-designed function rooms and salon rooms on the estate offer a great variety of possibilities for business meetings or festive occasions.
