The Floriade is a world Horticultural Expo held once every ten years in the Netherlands.

The 2012 Floriade will take place from April 5 until October 7, 2012 in Venlo, located in the province of Limburg at about 2.5 hours South East from Amsterdam. The participating countries, businesses and horticultural companies will present the most exquisite and exceptional flowers, plants, trees, fruits and vegetables. You can enjoy cultural programs filled with music, dance, literature, theatre and visual art form all over the world. There will also be special programs for children.

The Floriade lets you experience nature by using our five senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell). Besides exciting, innovative and educational attractions and activities, you can also enjoy various restaurants and cafes.

The Floriade park will have 5 different theme zones:
Relax and Heal,
Green Engine,
Education & Innovation,
Environment,
World Show Stage.

Relax and Heal:
Visitors will taste, smell, feel, hear and see the influences of horticultural products on their well-being. Including in this theme are topics like healthy eating, rituals and religions and sports.

Green Engine:
This theme zone will host areas like bioscience, life science, and sustainable energy as an energy source. By this zone the participants want to emphasize that horticulture is one of the most important economic engines and is also a supplier of green energy.

Education & innovation:
This zone is to promote the interface between education, innovation and horticulture.
The focus will be that the visitors will take a look at the world around them from a variety of perspectives.

Environment:
This theme wants to illustrate the significance of horticulture in the urban environment. Because a green environment improves the quality of life. 

World Show Stage:The connection between nature and culture is very close. This theme zone is all about water, because water unites our continents and is the shared source of all life on earth.
There will be shows, workshops, performances and other events in which everybody can participate.
