Museum Van Loon is located in a canal house dating from 1672. The original occupant was Ferdinand Bol, Rembrandt's most famous pupil. In the mid-18th century the entire interior was embellished with rich panelling, stucco, mirrors and fireplaces. The interior has remained virtually intact throughout the centuries. The collection consists of some eighty family portraits dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries.
